SERDANG, 25 August – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has been selected to host the National Maulidur Rasul SAW Celebration 1448H/2026M, organised by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), highlighting the university’s role in promoting Islamic values and fostering a knowledge-driven society grounded in ethics, character and virtue.

The national-level celebration reflects the strategic synergy between UPM and JAKIM in leveraging expertise, facilities and campus community participation to deliver a high-impact programme.

The collaboration also allows UPM to strengthen its network with government agencies, alumni, the community and industry partners through initiatives in education, human capital development and social responsibility rooted in Islamic values.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Dato’ Professor Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, said UPM’s selection as the host was a great honour for the university, while providing the campus community with an opportunity to reflect on the life, character and leadership of Prophet Muhammad SAW in the context of contemporary life and community development.

“This celebration is not merely an official event, but serves as a platform to nurture love for Prophet Muhammad SAW while instilling the values of integrity, compassion, leadership and mutual respect among the university community and society.

“UPM is honoured to collaborate with JAKIM in hosting this national-level celebration. This strategic partnership demonstrates that universities serve not only as institutions of education and research, but also as important partners to the government in nurturing a knowledgeable, ethical and prosperous society,” he said.

To ensure smooth preparation for the celebration, Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Centre (PKKSSAAS), UPM Director, Husalshah Rizal Hussian, together with his staff, has been entrusted with coordinating and managing the celebration at university level.

The active involvement of the UPM community was also reflected through its participation in the celebration’s procession. A total of 30 UPM contingent members, representing academic associations, the UPM Alumni Association, the Registrar’s Office, the UPM Administrators Association, Persatuan KEPERTAMA and the Islamic Centre, took part in the procession.

UPM Islamic Centre Director, Zuhaimi Abdul Rahim, said preparations for the contingent had begun a month earlier, including regular training sessions to ensure the smooth movement and participation of the university’s representatives.

“All contingent members wore white attire, symbolising cleanliness and purity, in line with the spirit of the Maulidur Rasul SAW Celebration,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to the entire UPM community for their commitment and cooperation in supporting the university’s participation in the National Maulidur Rasul SAW Celebration 1448H/2026M.
